my story
I’m Matthew Dunn, DNP, AGACNP-BC, and for most of my career, I’ve lived the same reality as the nurses and NP students I now coach: long shifts, impossible expectations, and the constant pressure to make the “right” career decision.
Like many, I started nursing because I loved people and believed in compassionate care. But as time went on, I realized something important — the bedside was only one chapter of my story, not the whole book.
I built my career through critical care, emergency medicine, graduate school, night shifts, and every learning curve NP students face today. And somewhere along the way, I became the person colleagues came to for advice.
Not because I had all the answers — but because I understood the questions, the uncertainty, the exhaustion, and the desire for something more.
Beyond the Bedside was born from that — from a belief that nurses deserve clarity, direction, and someone in their corner.
